PAUT

PHASED ARRAY ULTRASONIC TESTING (PAUT) produce accurate, detailed cross-sectional pictures of internal structures at fast inspection speeds. Phased array technology uses multiple ultrasonic elements and electronic time delays to create beams that can be steered, scanned, swept, and focused electronically for fast inspection, full data storage, and multiple angle inspections. Phased array technology provides precise measurement with the most reliable results. Diamond NDT completed many projects throughout GCC regions in oil and gas, Power industries. We are expertise in following type of Phased array applications.

Typical applications:

a. Girth weld piping inspection

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing can be utilized for manual and semi-automated inspection of girth welds in oil and gas, Power & Offshore industries. These phased array systems, which are certified for weld inspection incompliance with ASME, API, and other code criteria, offer superior inspection speed and facilitate interpretation of indications.

b. Pressure vessel inspection

A complete inspection of pressure vessel welds ranging upto any high thickness such as 4 in to 20 in can be performed in a single scan using a phased array system and a motorized scanner such as weld rover. By combining TOFD and PA in a single inspection pass, a significant reduction in inspection time can be achieved as compared with conventional raster scanning or radiography. Furthermore, inspection results are available immediately.

c. Small diameter tubes weld inspection.

When coupled with COBRA SCANNER, PA system is capable for inspection of smaller diameter tubes ranging from 0.75 in to 4.5 in OD. With it very thin and compact structure it can be utilized in the areas where limited access or adjacent obstructions. More over immediate results will be available which enable you to detect problems with the welding equipment and fix them right away.

d. Base metal evaluation normal and high temperature.

Encoded base metal evaluation can be made using with PA system accompanied with semi-automated and automated scanners such as accuascanner which enables to inspect online inspection of pipeline, column, tanks etc. In addition it detects mid-wall damage such as hydrogen-included blistering and manufacturing lamination and easily differentiates these anomalies from wall thickness loss.

e. Austenitic Steel Inspection Using MATRIX Probe.

MATRIX probes are advantageously used for the inspection of dissimilar metal welds and other acoustically noisy material such as Inconel stainless steel etc. Dual matrix array (DMA) probes combine the advantages of TRL probes with the advantages of phased-array technology allowing electronic steering, skewing and focusing of acoustic beams.
